Planning a Santa Cruz Wedding in April is risky due to the unpredictable weather on the coast, but Paula and Ivan had a beautiful wedding on a gorgeous day! I was honored to be their photographer. When I first spoke with Paula she mentioned she wanted a calm and small wedding on the beach in Santa Cruz, since their focus was planning their honeymoon instead of a big wedding affair. Since they had a big family, they eloped on the beach to express their love for each other for their family. That day ended up being a large surf competition, so Paula was nervous about too many people on the beach. Although, there seemed to be a ton of surfers, it was perfect, because they placed their alter to the side of the competition and there was more than enough room on the beach to say their vows. As Paula started to walk down the beach towards the ceremony, her ring bearer dropped the ring in the sand!!! It is recommended to not have the real rings getting married on the beach, due to the sand swallowing it up. It took several people to dig and search. Someone came with a colander to sift through the sand, but Paula was getting even more nervous. The ceremony was at a stand still with everyone searching for the ring. After a long pause of the ceremony, it was a miracle that the last scoop of the colander came up with a gold ring and everyone cheering! The ceremony began and everything turned out so beautiful. Congratulations Ivan and Paula and wishing you two the best in life and enjoy your honeymoon in the fall! So glad your day ended with a shiny miracle and a beautiful warm day.
